peace, love, and christmas spirit

much has happened. i had not been able to attend doms wake two weeks ago but i'm really pleased that andrew w.k. did. it's what dom had wanted, so with emails from myself and his other friends we made it happen. i did however attend the funeral the next day. the weather was quite fitting. grey and depressing :( i'm glad to be back in touch with angela but not that it happened this way.

i made some christmas cards or rather... christmas doilies. it's christmas eve and i still haven't sent them out, i figure late christmas cards are a nice pleasant surprise after all the gifts and crap have been exchanged. here are a few..

this is the headband i wore to work today. being the life of the party and bringing peace, love, and christmas spirit.

time to go wrap a billion presents.

christmas tree in a box

my laptop came yesterday! it was completely wiped out which is a semi-bummer but it's neat starting fresh. last night was my last evening at the nursing home and i'm glad for that. one of the residents has this christmas tree in a box on her window sill and i think it's just adorable!
my first beauty school class is tomorrow night! ok time to go back to christmas specials on the boob tube.

sweet dreams forever dominic

today was our first snow and i made a little playlist of some of my favorite holiday songs. i'll be adding to it.

happy christmas

btw the background image is "the christmas king" by martin harris

on a darker note, while at charlies friday night i received news that a friend had just passed away from a brain aneurysm. dominic owen mallary, best known as dom. it came as a huge shock, out of nowhere! and although my evening was decent, it really hit me once i was alone and heading home. i hadn't seen or talked to him in a very long time but i have good memories of him and his amazing, kind, entertaining, caring presence and it hurt very much. mine and dom's friend johnny mac came up from richmond virginia. we celebrated doms life last night at johnny's moms house, only a stones throw from mine. it takes me about 2 or 3 minutes to walk there, 1 to run. saw a lot of old faces that had drifted away. it was depressing but really great to be able to all be together. my heart goes out to dominic's girlfriend angela "spoon". who is also unfortunately a friend i've lost touch with but still care greatly about. there are just far too many good people i've had great memories with that have drifted. drift back, i'm here.

yeah, ok cupid

i joined some online dating website(okcupid.com) because my friend jessica told me there were hot babes on there... and i have yet to see any actual hot babes. it's kind of a funny site though. people can see when you look at them and then they message you right away, and some of them use such cheesy lines. one of my other friends torrie is on there and we exchange stories about it all day long because we've become addicted, and we love texting eachother all day long! i'm actually just surfing the net at the nursing home right now waiting to get out of here and get together with her to head to our favorite bar in cambridge.. CHARLIES! which is our usual every weekend hangout. after tonight though i think i'm going to cut back on going out. i start hair school next wednesday and will be working less. so excited/nervous! i can't wait to get my almost 700 dollar kit and go through it with all the different supplies i'll need and mannequin heads and whatnot. the whole unlucky streak sort of isn't over yet which is quite a bummer but i'm getting through it. my laptop should be arriving all fixed and good as new via fedex by december 10th. i'm very much looking forward to that as i havn't been able to use it in almost a month now. i've been collecting addresses and getting ready to make christmas cards out of vintage winter/xmas graphics and doilies and probably lots of glitter and other fancy whatnots! maybe i'll spend a quiet night in with a christmas special or movie tomorrow and start on that then. i'll post pics when i'm done! so yes browsing the net..
i just signed up for a free 10 issue subscription of nylon magazine at urban outfitters website. this is how i received my current subscription last year. i suggest jumping on that bandwagon before supplies run out!! also i love these items from the site..

i don't usually like hats and i'm not sure how i feel about this one either but for right now i'm kinda diggin' it. and i love bows.

not that i need a new purse.. and the one i have right now is so similar to this one if i got it my friends would just think i bought the same purse i have now in a different color. mine is a pearly color and when it opens it look like a clam shell opening, so they call it the clam purse haha.

this is a real cute speaker system for an ipod.. the ones i have right now are pretty cute but very small. eco-speakers. and these are them..

i really like this cardboard ipod boom box but the speakers are about the same size as the ones i have.. it's cute though.. and a cheaper way to do the whole old fashioned boom box thing haha.

alright time to go lock things up, shut down the workputer, and get ready for charlies. TTYL

human highway

i've started listening to human highway which is nick thorburn(the unicorns/th' corn gangg/islands/reefer) and jim guthrie(islands). the first time i heard human highway i was like WOW THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE UNICORNS.. haha love it. i was a little torn up back when the unicorns broke up right after i had seen them live in connecticut back in ohhh 2004? and might i add my sexy date and i also got to dance on stage with them and get wild and it was just insane/electric/amazing. they put on an AWESOME and ADORABLE show. islands sort of made up for it but not quite, and now i think human highway mostly makes up for it!! i put "the sound" on my playlist. and i guess i might as well share my playlist..

wood

so i had been having huge amounts of bad luck lately, such as the towing, having to pay hundreds of dollars for stupid things like cancelation fees and speeding tickets and the tow and whatever else i had to pay stupid money for, the whole status complication at work messing with my insurance and auto insurance as well. finding my passenger side mirror smashed and dangling about the other day was also a nice touch :( but things are finally working themselves out and looking up a bit, which i'm very thankful for. speaking of thanks, i had quite a pleasant thanksgiving yesterday. i spent some time with a few of my uncles and cousins at my grandmothers in ashland which i'm guilty of not spending more time going over, but that will change! then spent a few hours at my papas eating ham with my brother, papa, uncle, and mom. today i started selling the christmas trees outside at the depot. i love pine scent. also i love most things wood/woodgrain!

these wooden "carve your own" postcards are from the curiosity shoppe and are such a cool idea.

i also love these wooden bricks, even though i'd have no idea what to even do with them, also from the curiosity shoppe

wood grain soap!!! uncommon goods

love this stereo bird house also from uncommon goods.

i almost thought this was another one of those usb mix tapes(which i think are so cool) but it's not, its actually a... tape dispenser! also very cool. hah enough of that site though, there's so many good things!

wooden magnetic board from fred flare. i already have a green magnetic board from target but i'm very into the idea of switching that one out for this.

this travel mug from...well everywhere, including the curiosity shoppe and fred flare and numerous other places, has been out for a while now but i still don't have it. this might be going on my christmas wishlist i'll be sending to my mom i mean santa!

influence, mary-kate and ashley would make an awesome coffee-table book. i don't have a coffee-table, but it would fit in nicely on my shelf with the many other books i have well suited for coffee-tables!

ebay

i've definitely calmed down a bit from my ebay addiction. besides the valentines i posted recently, here are some of the other items i've collected from there in the past 2 months or so. which is not very much at all compared to before when i was shopping till i dropped.

more valentines.. i think this will be IT for now!

beautiful deer salt and pepper shakers
"what are friends for?"

and just a few dvds: winter passing, quadrophenia, the gore gore girls, and i guess that's about it. i'm quite proud of myself for gaining a little more control over the spell ebay had on me.

tiny dwellings

i love tiny living/resting spaces/mobile homes/campers such as..

tumbleweed houses
and while googling photos of tumbleweed houses this came up.. it's labeled redneck mansion which i don't find to be such an appealing name but i really love this haha. i'd love to live here..
and it also brought me to another cool blog.. http://manolohome.com

tonke campers
love these too. i think i'd like to trade in my nissan sentra for a vw camper. they are so cute and fun and have everything you need to spend the whole summer on the beach!
tiny house design and tiny house blog have more real cute tiny living places, most of them are tumbleweed but there are a few other gems thrown in to the mix too. i'd love to own a small space like this to escape to.. but theyre way out of my league in the price department :(
