i have an addiction

lykke li - little bit

i love this song, i heard it on wers(88.9) yesterday on my way to work. and when i got to work i found it on the web and listened to it a hundred times more. and then continued on with my ebay addiction.. so far this week alone i've bought...

the get up kids "on a wire" on 12" vinyl

chuck palahniuk "snuff"

childrens book from '68. it was about 13 dollars but too adorable to not buy

DOLLS. but i only got this lot for the one on the left. i'm going to sell the other two at my yard sale this weekend.

mates of state "two of us" dvd because i gave my copy to alec to take down to florida as a token of my sweetness

lee print on cork type board, so far i have three of these, and would eventually love to have a bazillion

the beach boys "pet sounds" on 12" vinyl. this one is the re-release that just came out september 2nd.

and i'm currently "watching" another 22 random knick knacks, vinyl, art, books, etc. but now it's time to gather my things and head down to mcinnis tattoo in providence to get some more work done on my chest piece.

OH AND.. get some double cheeseburgers off the dollar menu on the way because i eat meat now and love double cheeseburgers.

walk it out

my ex bf alec who is currently living in south florida tattooing out of ink link... supposedly and hopefully moving back here sometime in the near future, flew up for a little visit last sunday. i'm thankful he spent a huge chunk of quality time with me even though he had a lot going on. yesterday was his last day here and i called out of work so i could drive him to the airport. we got in to boston with some time to kill so we shopped for records in harvard square and on newbury street. he claims there are no records in florida. i was not a happy camper when it came time to start heading toward logan. i was hoping we'd lose track of time or get back to my car to find it had been towed away or end up getting stuck in some major traffic on the way or anything to make him miss his plane. i've never dropped anyone off at an airport and man is it difficult. i hate crying in public. he didn't miss the plane. i may be planning a little plane ride myself to visit him soon. maybe when the weather gets a little cooler than 685 degrees down there.

i was supposed to host a yard sale today with my mom but she changed her mind to next weekend, so instead i went to yard sales. and bought everything i saw. i will post those treasures at a later date, for now enjoy this lovely vid.

gingerbread dream home

i think one of oak bluffs gingerbread cottages would suit me quite nicely. the september page of the marthas vineyard calendar on my desk (it's a shared desk) at the nursing home features a beautiful rainbow of these little gems. sadly it's only that one page, so i've been googling them for the past hour or so.

i absolutely love everything about them, the fancy scrollwork, bright colors, hearts, shrubery awnings, the amount of detail.

they remind me of the big lot of precious places doll houses i had as a kid that came with matching giant pastel colored magnetic keys that open the houses up and turn the lights on and off, and move the people and pets around from beneath the floor boards/sidewalks/wherever.

before i pass out

i meant to update sooner but i've been slaving away over the telephone at the nursing home i work at and in my ugly orange apron at the depot that tells customers they can do it and i can help. today i managed to change my shirt on the drive from one job to the other. i attempted my pants but that seemed a little too risky. i imagined how embarrassing it'd be to crash into someone or something mid-pants changing and then have to explain why i'm not wearing any pants. anyway at the end of the day as i'm slouching under my warm laptop in my comfy bed and cozy little bedroom, thinking about updating... i usually just pass out. so here's a little sumthin' sumthin' before the sand man creeps up on me...

i had purchased a magnetic board from target that came with two boring/ugly little magnets that i was not satisfied with. so i glued some round craft magnets to some random plastic pieces i thrifted, a cat, a deer, and an ice cream. i also realized the craft magnets are the same size as the backs of those hip little band pins i used to show off on my pants and bags in high school. a good chunk of those pins had been collecting dust in a bowl so i took out all the pin inserts and stuck in the magnets. they fit perfectly without glue or anything else. and for bigger pins they stay without glue as well.
here you can see how perfectly they fit

and here are a few on the board along with the plastic pieces.

i had a few friends over for a super bowl party style get together for the vmas. so an mtv cake seemed very appropriate. funfetti of course!

my mom obsesses over all the puppies on craigslist every day. so when she asked me if she should get one i said yes, she might as well.. she obviously wants one so incredibly badly. so now we have the cats cupcake and nico, our pit bull/pointer wanda, and now tami..she's a 6 month old rat terrier and a professional heart melter! i will most likely take better pictures at a later date but for now she's way too rambunctious. she has a personality very similar to our mini dashund bob that had passed away

i just got my first issue of GOOD magazine in the mail last week after agreeing to recieve a free trial one issue and i must say it's definitely my new favorite magazine i will be subscribing for sure. most publications that deal with real, world issues and important stuff make it too boring for me to want to sit and read. also GOOD magazine gives 100% of your subscription fee to whichever nonprofit partner of theirs that you chose! and that's pretty rad. check it out

i do have more to post but i'll save it for another night. right now it's time to pass out.
